Why should you theme things, you might ask.
Let’s think of real life. What was the best event you ever attended? When I ask this question, most often than not, people tell me of a theme party for a big Birthday Celebration, surprise party or cool event. What theme comes to mind for you? Is it The Great Gatsby, James Bond or Hawaiian?
Themed events definitely bring a lot of fun. It gives everyone, from the organiser to each attendee opportunity to think differently and be creative. Everyone has to put in extra effort and no surprise, the results are WOW!
The majority of marketing or marketing messages are boring, the same year after year and look and sound just like the competition. Do you agree?
Next time you are planning a campaign or holding an event, why not think outside the box, and spice things up?
Whatever you do in marketing ask yourself: does this idea have enough WOW? Is it sticky, is it memorable, would it excite people? Would they talk about it the next day, next week, or next year?
Here are just a few ideas where you can maximise your theme:
– An invite (maybe a direct campaign with lumpy mail? 100% open rate guaranteed)
– Venue decoration
– Email marketing
– A gift on arrival or thank you gift
– Best costume competition
Imagine how much noise the event will create when people start sharing photos, after the event.
You can turn it up or down. It all depends on how brave you are and who the audience is.
If you need ideas for themes, just say “yes” in the comments and I am happy to share one of the great tools that I have been using for many years. It definitely will help you to think outside the box.
